After our international call for submissions for ampersands taking place last spring, we chose with -Zeug editors the 288 we loved the most. Now they're making a book of it, beside a translation of Jan Tschichold's Formenwandlungen der &-Zeichen, a short historical essay dealing with the successive designs of the ampersand glyph.
Some more details about the books
Jan Tschichold (1902-1974, typographer, theorician and teacher) published in 1953 Formenwandlungen der &-Zeichen, a short historical essay dealing with the successive designs of the ampersand glyph. This text is structured by a collection of 288 carefully selected and commented ampersands, which constitues a brief and concise introduction to the history of Western writing and typography. Long unavailable in English, this new translation is published in a facsimile version, faithful to the original design by the author.

Et & Ampersands / Collectif
On the occasion of this translation, VTF and -zeug co-organised a type-design workshop and an international call for ampersand entries, in May 2017, in Paris and worldwide. This type-specimen shelters the selection of 288 ampersand glyphs, selected, sorted and organised. This festive publication witnesses vitality and wit of the contemporary type-design community.

We will be in Chaumont (52000, France) during the opening of the bienal of graphic design on 20 and 21 of May2017. Meet us in the Chapelle, a former jesuit church in the center of the town where a salon of independent publishers and foundries will take place. See you there!
New event / workshop / party
Saint J&an is a workshop week-end in Paris and a worldwide submission call for ampersands.
Prepare to draw your most beautiful ampersands on may 6th and 7th that will be published in a book by —zeug as a festive companion to a new translation to Jan Tschichold's ampersand essay.
The climax of this week-end will be a party on the occasion of the Saint Jean Porte Latine, patron of the type designers and wine markers, who we will celebrate on this Saturday night.
Welcome to Bluu Next, a big update of the Bluu font originally released in 2013 by Jean-Baptiste Morizot. JB redraw the bold and add a new upright bold-italic to complete it. More condensed, the italic has has the particularity to be darker than its roman counterpart when an italic is usually lighter. Being the only serif font on VTF made for text sizes, this upgrade expands the possiblities of text template with VTF fonts. This upgrade makes even clearer than before the cutting edge temperament of Bluu, with glimps for some middle-age or gothic influences.
Whe heard that a wider family might be in development, but hush! It's a secret!
The vote is closed !
When it was first released, we asked you to vote to choose the next style of Millimetre you would like to see released. You could vote during the launch of the typeface in Paris and online during 2 weeks.
Guess what, the vote is closed and we have the results. The lighter weight is heading at the first place, followed by the black and condensed width. Therefore Jérémy is already designing the light to release it first. The black will follow afterwards.
We will be in Brussels on the 14th of april to attend the launch of a new original type related magazine.
Meet La Perruque, a 1 meter long and 1 centimeter hight sheet of paper. Each issue is a specimen dedicated to a different typeface. These strange formats are leftovers from the printer, the margins of regular documents. The different issues altogether create a portrait of a contemporean type design scene. On the 14th of April, discover the first 4 issues of the magazine and meet Olivier Bertrand, its creator, with the designers of each 4 typefaces : our Raphaël Bastide, Axel Benassis, Justin Bihan, Alex Chavot and Olivier Lebrun as a guest.
Yes, the third issue of La Perruque is dedicated to our Steps Mono, a project initiated by Raphaël and Jean-Baptiste Morizot to demonstrate a collaborative approach in type design. No spoil but it seems that the fourth issue will be about another of our fonts.
