The TINY font family was originally created over the summer of 2018 as the visual identity for an experimental retail pop-up shop in Chinatown, New York City called “Today in New York”, or TINY for short. The shop was the result of an intern project at Verdes, a creative agency, between Jack Halten Fahnestock and Théïa Flynn, where they sold T-shirts and tote bags customized on the spot. TINY is based on the smallest type size (using only 5 of the 16 available print heads) of the HandJet EBS-250, the tool used in the shop for immediate printing on textiles. Its variable dot size comes from the HandJet’s adjustable ink output.

TINY 5x3 comes as a variable font with a size axis to modify dot size from 0—300, as well as 15 separate instances (each increasing the dot size by 20 units). Future releases will include more widths (up to at least 5x13) and variable axes.

Grid-Perfect Leading

Divide Adobe's auto leading in half for one dot size between lines or refer to the leading formula below for more specific adjustment.

La famille de caractères TINY a été créée pendant l'été 2018 comme cœur de l'identité visuelle d'un magasin éphémère expérimentale à Chinatown, New York, appelée “Today in New York” ("Aujourd'hui à New York"), ou TINY par ses sigles en anglais. La boutique était le résultat d'un projet de stage à Verdes, une agence créative, conçu par moi-même (Jack Halten Fahnestock) et Théïa Flynn, où nous vendions des t-shirts et des tote bags personnalisés sur place. TINY est basé sur la taille de caractère la plus petite (employant uniquement 5 des 16 têtes d'impression disponibles) du HandJet EBS-250, l'outil que nous utilisions au magasin pour imprimer des textiles immédiatement. La taille variable de ses points provient de la quantité d'encre réglable du HandJet.

TINY 5x3 est juste la première partie d'un plan plus large qui consiste en la publication de plus de largeurs (jusqu'au moins 5x13) et d'axes variables sur des futures mises à jour.

Interlignage aligné sur la grille

Diviser l'interlignage automatique d'Adobe par 2 pour un interlignage égal à la taille d'un point du TINY. Se référer à la formule d'interlignage ci-dessous pour des ajustements spécifiques.
