Velvelyne is a typeface designed for the Velvetyne website in 2023 by Manon Van der Borght and Mariel Nils. It is now available published under CUTE licence, written by Bye Bye Binary. Its skeleton was designed by a script imagined by Benjamin Dumond. Responding to the orchestration of [Raphaël Bastide], the shapes grew out of the [Liberation Sans] character (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberation_fonts). Manon and Mariel then took care of this skeleton until it developed its branches and assumed its outgrowths. As it grew into a stroke font, it expanded into 4 weights and a few post-binary ligatures. A workshop was held at La Générale, a self-managed place of residence and artistic resistance, on 19 October 2024. Velvelyne's stamped letters used in the workshop were laser-cut using machines from the Carrefour Numérique at the Cité des Sciences de La Villette in Paris. Many of the workshop's ideas were inspired by the *Grimoire de Futurology of Cooperation. Thanks to participants Dorian Pironneau, Mallaury Genet, Lucia Divenuto, Alexandre Kyheng, Astrid Chabot, Lise Lépinay, Basile Barbosa, Philippe Bucamp, Solène Villemain, Jany Belluz, Julia Avakian & Catarina Sana for their energy!

Une floppée d'ami·es légèr·es et de météores
voguent, créateur·ices de leur chemin au fur et à mesure
rencontrant êtres dégenré·es et fe·hommes futur·es
Et dinant avec ell·eux autour d'un grand festin.
