When Parisian graphic designers AAAAA Atelier were invited to create an exhibition in front of the astonishing Cathédrale of Metz, they decided to imagine the future of this place of worship. From worshiping the christian god to worshiping the gods of rock, they created the imaginary visual identity of the Cathédrale as a concert hall, a futuristic and psychedelic utopian pop communication. They asked Studio Triple’s designer Jérémy Landes to create a custom typeface live along the illustrations they were creating.
This identity is mainly inspired by the crazy stained glass work of the cathedral. Jérémy decided to create a typeface drawn by light instead of shades, to invert the black and the white in a new sort of stencil typeface called Hyper Scrypt. Hyper Chapelle took place at the end of summer 2017 in Tata Gallery in Metz, an traveled to Paris during October of the same year for the release party of the Hyper Scrypt typeface in La Générale.
As Jérémy says it, Hyper Scrypt is at the intersection between 3 metals : the sacred lead of stained glass, the lead of print characters and the heavy metal.
